The fastest green in this range. Brassica rapa var. narinosa giving dark green, heavily crinkled spoon-shaped leaves on long slim stems — baby leaf in 25 days, a full rosette in 43. Mild, crunchy and sweet, and tolerant of both cold nights and warm afternoons, so it produces across the whole Pakistani winter.

Growing Guide for Pakistan
- Sowing time: Punjab plains (Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan) late September to February; Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar September to January; Karachi and coastal Sindh October to December; Murree, Swat and Quetta February to April. Fast enough to sow every two to three weeks right through winter.
- Method: Sow 6 mm deep, three to five seeds per 2 cm for baby leaf.
- Germination: Around a week. Do not let the surface crust over.
- Spacing: Baby leaf: rows 5 cm apart. Full rosettes: thin to 30 cm.
- Harvest: Baby leaf from 25 days; full rosettes at 43 days, cut whole at the base.
- Sun and water: Full sun. Steady water — the savoyed leaves stay tender only if growth never stalls.
The quickest thing you can sow
Twenty-five days from seed to salad is unusual for anything other than a radish. If you want to see a result fast — or you are getting a child interested in growing — this is the packet to open first.
Stir-fry as well as salad
At full size the long petioles stay crunchy under heat, so whole rosettes go straight into a wok. The dark savoyed leaf holds sauce better than a flat leaf does.
