Cineraria Seeds

Grow silver-lace foliage with Dusty Miller seeds (Senecio cineraria). Felted, filigreed silver leaves that make every neighbouring flower look brighter, the classic contrast plant for Pakistani winter beds, edges and mixed pots, lasting well beyond one season in mild areas.

Growing Guide for Pakistan

• Sowing time: September to October in the plains; September in Islamabad; October in Karachi.
• Method: Nursery trays. Surface-sow, do not cover; the seed needs light.
• Germination: 10–15 days at 21–24°C.
• Transplanting: At 4–6 leaves, 20–25 cm apart.
• Display: Silver foliage from about ten weeks, all winter and beyond; trim any flower stems to keep the leaf shape tight.
• Sun and water: Full sun; on the dry side, silver foliage rots in soggy soil.
