Salvia Red Seeds

Set your beds ablaze with Salvia Red Hot Sally II seeds (Salvia splendens). Dense scarlet flower spikes over deep green foliage, the classic red edging plant of Pakistani public gardens, now in an earlier, more uniform selection for home beds and pots.

Growing Guide for Pakistan

• Sowing time: September to October in the plains and Karachi for winter-to-spring colour; in Islamabad sow by early September or wait for February, salvia dislikes hard frost.
• Method: Nursery trays. Press seed into the surface and cover only lightly; it germinates better with some light.
• Germination: 10–14 days at 22–25°C.
• Transplanting: At 4–6 leaves, 20–25 cm apart.
• Flowering: December to April in the plains and Karachi; deadhead spikes to keep colour coming.
• Sun and water: Full sun to light afternoon shade; regular water, salvia wilts dramatically when thirsty but recovers fast.
