• Sowing time: February to March in trays for spring in the plains and Islamabad; late August to September in the plains and Karachi for autumn. Frost-tender.
• Method: Nursery trays; cover seed 0.5–1 cm, keep warm.
• Germination: 6–10 days at 22–26°C.
• Transplanting: At 4–6 leaves, 60 cm apart with a heavy stake or cage, big fruit means heavy branches.
• Harvest: 85–90 days from transplanting; support ripening trusses and pick at full colour.
• Sun and water: Full sun; deep, even watering, and feed fortnightly once fruit sets.
