Growing Guide for Pakistan

• Sowing time: February to March in trays in the plains and Islamabad; September in the plains and Karachi for a frost-free crop.
• Method: Nursery trays; cover seed 0.5 cm, keep warm.
• Germination: 8–14 days at 24–28°C.
• Transplanting: At 5–6 leaves, 45 cm apart.
• Harvest: About 65–70 days from transplanting; pick deep green and glossy, fine corky lines on the skin mean peak flavour.
• Sun and water: Full sun; even watering keeps the heat pleasant rather than fierce.
