Star Glory — a fast annual climber that runs a curtain of fine, fern-cut foliage up a trellis in weeks, then covers it in small five-pointed stars in scarlet, crimson, rose and white. The mix gives you every colour on one fence. First flowers 50 to 60 days from sowing, and it keeps throwing them until the weather turns.

Growing guide for Pakistan
- When to sow: February to April in the plains, once nights hold above 15 °C, for flowers from April onward. A second sowing in July gives a monsoon-to-October run. Hill areas sow April to June.
- Soak first: the seed coat is hard. Nick it lightly with a nail file or soak overnight in warm water before sowing — that one step is the difference between patchy and even germination.
- Sowing: 6 mm deep, sown straight where it is to grow, 15–20 cm apart along the foot of the support. It dislikes being moved, so sow in place, or in pots and plant out while still small.
- Support: give it a trellis, wire, mesh or fence from day one — it twines and reaches 2 to 3 m. With nothing to hold, it sprawls.
- Sun and soil: full sun and ordinary, well-drained ground. Rich soil and heavy nitrogen give you leaf instead of flower.
- Water: regular while young. Once away it takes Punjab heat well and asks for far less than it looks like it should.
- After flowering: it sets seed freely and comes up again the next season. Snip the pods off if you would rather it did not.
Frequently asked questions
Will this grow in a pot?
Yes. Three or four plants in a 14-inch (35 cm) pot with a fan trellis or a few canes, in full sun.
How is it different from morning glory?
Same family, different effect. Morning glory has broad heart-shaped leaves and wide trumpets; cypress vine has thread-fine foliage and small star flowers — the lighter, more delicate of the two on a screen.
Does it bring in butterflies?
Yes. The flowers are a standing invitation to butterflies and sunbirds right through the summer.
Is the seed non-GMO?
