Lettuce Iceberg Seeds

Growing Guide for Pakistan

• Sowing time: September to October in the plains; late August to September in Islamabad; October to November in Karachi.
• Method: Surface-sow in trays or direct; press seed in but do not bury, lettuce needs light. Shade trays in early-September warmth, hot soil puts lettuce seed to sleep.
• Germination: 4–8 days at 15–20°C.
• Transplanting: At 4–5 leaves, 30 cm apart for full heads.
• Harvest: 60–75 days; cut whole heads while mornings are still cool, heat turns lettuce bitter.
• Sun and water: Full winter sun; light, frequent watering.
