A matte white ceramic planter raised on three small round feet, painted by hand in cobalt blue: starburst blooms, curling vines, teardrop petals and a scatter of dots, in the blue-and-white tradition that runs from Ottoman Iznik through Multani and Hala blue pottery. No two pots carry exactly the same brushwork.
Why the Feet Matter
The three feet are not only decoration. They lift the base a centimetre clear of the surface, so air moves underneath and water never sits trapped between pot and table. On a wooden table or a polished floor, that is the difference between a pot you can leave in place and a pot that leaves a ring.
What to Plant in It
The painting is busy, so quiet green foliage suits it best: the detail should be on the pot, not competing with it. Money plant (pothos), snake plant, ZZ plant, syngonium, peace lily, a small philodendron, or a clump of ferns. If you want flowers, keep them white: a white African violet, white kalanchoe, or paperwhites forced in winter. Strong oranges and reds fight with cobalt blue.
Indoors or Out
This is primarily an indoor piece for a side table, a bookshelf, a bedside, an office desk or a bathroom windowsill. The matte white glaze stays white indoors indefinitely. On an open terrace in Lahore or Karachi, dust settles into matte glaze faster than into gloss, so plan on a wipe every week or two if it lives outside.
Care
- Watering: Water into the soil rather than over the rim and the painted surface stays clean. For an indoor foliage plant, let the top two to three centimetres of mix dry before watering again. Push a finger in to check rather than watering to a schedule.
- Cleaning: A soft damp cloth only. Do not scrub the blue motifs, do not use scouring powder, and keep it out of the dishwasher. Hand-applied decoration on ceramic is durable but not abrasion-proof.

Hand-painted, so brushwork, motif placement and the exact depth of blue vary from one pot to the next. That variation is the nature of the piece, not a fault.
