Glory 40% EC (Chlorpyrifos) Insecticide 250 ml

What this product is

Glory 40% EC is manufactured by Solex Chemicals (Pvt.) Ltd. and supplied in a 250 ml bottle. "EC" stands for emulsifiable concentrate — an oil-based concentrate that turns milky white when mixed with water and is applied as a spray.

It is packed and labelled for field crop use, with per-acre dose rates. It is not formulated or packed as a household or indoor insect spray.

Active ingredient — please read the pack

The active ingredient and its percentage are printed on the bottle itself, and that printed declaration is the one to go by. We do not restate it here, because the pack's English and Urdu panels do not match each other and we would rather you had the correct information than a confident guess.

Dose rates from the label

The bottle carries a recommendation table with per-acre rates for several field crops:

• 800–1000 ml per acre for the majority of the listed crops
• 500–1000 ml per acre for one of the listed crops

The full crop-and-pest table is printed on the back of the bottle in Urdu. Match your crop and your pest to that table — do not carry a rate over from another crop, and do not increase the rate hoping for a faster kill. Over-dosing an EC concentrate scorches foliage and pushes pests towards resistance without killing more of them.

How to mix and spray an EC concentrate

1. Shake the bottle well before opening.
2. Pre-mix. Measure the dose into a small amount of water in a separate jug and stir until it turns uniformly milky. Never pour neat concentrate straight into a full tank.
3. Fill and agitate. Add the pre-mix to the part-filled sprayer, top up with water, and keep agitating while you spray so the emulsion does not separate.
4. Spray in the cool part of the day — early morning or late afternoon. Spraying in the middle of a hot day burns leaves and evaporates the spray before it works.
5. Cover the whole plant, including the underside of leaves, where most sucking pests actually sit.
6. Mix only what you will use. Do not store diluted spray overnight.

Safety — this is a toxic poison

The bottle is marked "TOXIC POISON TO BE USED CAREFULLY". Treat it that way.

• Wear protection: gloves, a mask, eye cover, long sleeves and full-length trousers, and closed shoes.
• Do not eat, drink or smoke while mixing or spraying. Wash your hands, face and any exposed skin with soap immediately afterwards, and wash your clothes separately.
• Keep people and animals out of the sprayed area until the spray has fully dried.
• Spray downwind and never into the wind or towards other people.
• Bees: do not spray a crop that is in flower while bees are foraging. Insecticides of this strength kill pollinators, and a flowering crop with no bees on it sets no fruit.
• Fish and water: do not spray near ponds, channels or drains, and never rinse equipment into a watercourse.
• Pre-harvest interval: the label states how many days must pass between the last spray and picking or harvest. Follow it. This matters for anything you or your family will eat.
• If someone swallows it or is badly exposed, take them to a doctor immediately and take the bottle with you so the doctor can read the label. Do not induce vomiting unless a doctor tells you to.

Storage

• Keep it in the original bottle with the cap tight and the label intact. Never decant pesticide into a drinks bottle.
• Store locked away, out of reach of children, and well away from food, animal feed, seed and fertilizer.
• Keep it cool, dry and out of direct sun.

Honest limits — read this before you buy

• This is not a home or indoor spray. If you want something for houseplants, a balcony or a small kitchen garden, a ready-to-use or milder product is the right choice — message us and we will point you to one.
• It is not organic and has no place in an organic vegetable plot. For that, see our neem cake and neem extract.
• 250 ml goes a long way. At field rates this is roughly a quarter of an acre's worth. For a home garden it is far more than you need.
• Rotate your chemistry. Spraying the same insecticide repeatedly is the fastest way to breed a population that ignores it. Alternate between different classes across the season.
