Coleus

Paint your shade with Coleus Superfine Rainbow seeds (Solenostemon scutellarioides). Velvet leaves splashed in lime, crimson, copper and cream, foliage colour that outperforms most flowers, and a favourite for bright Pakistani verandas out of direct sun.

Growing Guide for Pakistan

• Sowing time: September to October in the plains and Karachi; keep frost-free through winter in Islamabad and the north (or sow there in spring).
• Method: Nursery trays. Surface-sow, do not cover; coleus seed needs light. Cover the tray with clear plastic for humidity.
• Germination: 10–14 days at 22–25°C.
• Transplanting: At 4–6 leaves into pots or beds, 25 cm apart. Pinch tips regularly for dense, bushy plants.
• Display: Colourful foliage from about eight weeks after sowing; pinch off flower spikes to keep leaves vivid.
• Sun and water: Bright shade or gentle morning sun; even moisture.
