Buy Cherry Tomato F1 seeds in Pakistan and grow the tomato that never stops (Solanum lycopersicum). Long trusses of small, glossy, crack-resistant fruit with a high sugar balance — sweet enough that most of a picking never reaches the kitchen. A hybrid bred for vigour and sustained yield rather than one heavy harvest.

A vine tomato — give it something to climb

This is an indeterminate variety. It grows as a true vine, keeps extending all season and goes on setting trusses until the heat finally stops it, so it wants a stake, a cage or a trellis from the day you plant it. Expect it to pass head height in a good winter. Grown in a large pot with support it is the most productive thing you can put on a Pakistani rooftop or balcony.

Growing Guide for Pakistan

  • Sowing time: Punjab plains (Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan) mid-September to late October in nursery trays for the main winter crop, and again late January to February under cover for a spring crop. Karachi and coastal Sindh September to November. Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar February to March. Murree, Swat and Quetta March to April. Frost-tender.
  • Method: Nursery trays in a light seed mix; cover seed 5 mm and keep warm. Do not direct-sow — tomatoes transplant better than almost anything else.
  • Germination: 6–10 days at 22–26°C. Keep the tray warm, not wet.
  • Transplanting: At 4–6 leaves, 45–60 cm apart, with the stake already in the ground so you never drive one through the root ball later. Plant deep and bury part of the stem.
  • Harvest: First fruit about 65–75 days from transplanting, then continuously for months. Pick every two or three days — a vine that is kept picked keeps flowering.
  • Sun and water: Full sun; steady, even watering at the base, never over the leaves. Pinch out side shoots for fewer, larger trusses, or let it run bushy for sheer quantity.
