Grow your own chamomile — German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is the annual kind whose small white daisies make the tea. Sweet, apple-scented flowers picked through spring, dried in the shade and kept for the year. It self-seeds freely, so one sowing usually becomes a permanent corner of the garden.

Growing guide for Pakistan
- When to sow: October to November in the plains for flowers from February to April. It wants the cool season; sown into heat it stays small and flowers poorly.
- Sowing: The seed needs light to germinate. Scatter it on the surface of firmed, damp soil and press down — do not cover it. Thin to 15–20 cm apart.
- Soil: Light, well-drained, even poor ground. Rich soil gives tall, floppy plants and fewer flowers.
- Water: Moderate. Once established it takes a dry spell better than most herbs.
- Harvest: Pick the flower heads while the white petals are still flat, before they bend back. Pick every two or three days and the plant keeps producing for weeks.
- Drying: Spread the heads in a single layer in the shade with air moving, never in direct sun, and store them in a sealed jar once they are papery.

Yes. A pot 20–25 cm across with three or four plants, in full sun and free-draining compost.
