Growing Guide for Pakistan

• Sowing time: September to October in the plains; late August to September in Islamabad; October to November in Karachi.
• Method: Direct sow only, thinly, 1 cm deep, in deeply loosened, stone-free soil; mixing the fine seed with dry sand gives even rows.
• Germination: 10–18 days at 15–22°C; keep the surface continuously moist, a baked crust is the number-one carrot killer.
• Spacing: Thin to 5 cm.
• Harvest: 90–110 days; winter-chilled roots are the sweetest, and they hold in the ground until you need them.
• Sun and water: Full sun; even moisture, and no fresh manure, it forks the roots.
