Grow your own baby carrots — Little Finger is a true miniature Nantes, pulled at 8–10 cm and about the thickness of a finger. Crisp, coreless and sweet, ready in around two months, and perfectly suited to a container on a rooftop or balcony.

Growing guide for Pakistan
- When to sow: September to November across the plains. This is a cool-season root and it sweetens as the nights turn cold. Hill areas sow March to June.
- Sowing: Always sow direct — a root transplanted is a root forked. Scatter thinly in shallow drills 1 cm deep, rows 25–30 cm apart, and firm the soil gently over them.
- Soil: Deep, loose, stone-free ground dug a spade deep. Fresh manure forks and hairs the roots, so use only well-rotted compost, or follow a crop that was manured last season.
- Thinning: The step most gardeners skip and then regret. Thin to 4–5 cm apart once the seedlings are a few centimetres high. Crowded roots stay thin and woody.
- Water: Even moisture throughout. A dry spell followed by a heavy watering is what splits the roots.
- Harvest: Lift young for tenderness or leave longer for size. Loosen with a fork rather than pulling by the leaves.

Yes — this is the variety to choose for pots. Twenty-five centimetres of loose compost is plenty, and it does well in a grow bag or a window box.
