Growing Guide for Pakistan

• Sowing time: September to November in the plains; late August to October in Islamabad; October to December in Karachi.
• Method: Direct sow 2 cm deep, 5 cm apart. Soak the knobbly seed clusters overnight for faster sprouting; each cluster gives several seedlings, so thin early.
• Germination: 6–12 days at 15–25°C.
• Spacing: Thin to 10 cm; eat the thinnings as baby greens.
• Harvest: 60–80 days, at cricket-ball size for the sweetest roots.
• Sun and water: Full sun; steady moisture in loose, stone-free soil for round, unforked roots.
